A
recent study published in the Journal of the
American Medical Association has found that people who
regularly drink green tea live longer. Researchers explain
that the antioxidants found in green tea are key to
explaining the life-prolonging benefit.
The 11-year study examined data from more than 40,000 men and women in northeastern Japan, a region where 80 percent of the population drinks green tea and more than half drink three or more cups daily. Study participants who drank five or more cups of green tea a day were found to have 16 percent lower risk of death and heart disease.
