Eating
chocolate may help sharpen the mind and give a short-term
boost to cognitive skills, according to a new UK
study. The study, led by an expert from University of
Nottingham, discovered that consumption of cocoa drinks
rich in flavanols - a key ingredient of dark chocolate
- boosts blood flow to key areas of the brain for 2-3
hours.
The findings unveiled at the American Association for the Advancement of Science conference, inspired exciting new potentials for using chocolate flavonols in the treatment of various health problems, including vascular impairment, dementia, strokes and cardiovascular health maintenance. Flavanols are also naturally present in many fruits, vegetables, and teas.

Simone
Levine ranks among the increasing number of teen
vegetarians. Eager to share her views with her friends,
family and others in her community, she jumped on
the perfect opportunity to do so… and she did it
in style!
As a member of a Jewish community, Simone decided to speak her mind on the occasion of her bat mitzvah and celebration of her 12th birthday. During her speech, Simone spoke of the treatment of animals raised for food and the benefits of living a compassionate lifestyle. With a captive audience of more than 500 attendees, she asked, “If we have alternative foods, why should we eat animals when we can avoid violence?”
She then invited all of the guests to a cruelty-free celebration, stating, “I cannot expect you all to go Cold Turkey vegetarian…maybe I should change that to Cold Tofu, but the snacks at my party will not have any animals in them.”
