Eating
fresh tomatoes not only provides you with a healthy
dose of the powerful antioxidant lycopene, but it
can also lower your blood pressure. According to
a recent double-blind study conducted in Israel,
tomatoes and tomato sauce can lower blood pressure
and reduce the risk of heart disease. The study involved
patients who were already being treated for hypertension
but were not responding well to the medications.
After the patients took a supplement of tomato extract,
the results showed a significant drop in blood pressure
after just four weeks.
Other antioxidants found in tomatoes have been found to help prevent heart disease and decrease the bad effects of LDL cholesterol levels.

Danielle
Thompson decided to dedicate her life to animals when
she chose her career in law. She was in her third year
at Pace Law School, Portland OR, when she joined FARM’s
Animal Rights
National Conference last year. With great
enthusiasm, Danielle volunteered her time at the event
and educated people about her vegan lifestyle. After
the experience, she moved to Washington, DC to intern
at the Humane Society of the US.
This year she will be attending the AR2007 Conference, where hundreds of compassionate individuals will learn about the issues, educate others, dine on cruelty-free cuisine, and much more. The conference will take place July 19th – 23rd in Los Angeles. The four-day program features nearly 100 presenters from more than 60 organizations, appearing in plenary sessions, workshops, campaign reports, and rap sessions. Other elements include exhibits, videos, newcomer orientation, group workouts, and entertainment by animal-friendly musicians.
