Northern
Soy has been producing SoyBoy organic tofu and other
tasty soy-based products since 1977. Made with purified
water, SoyBoy tofu is commended for its fresh, all-natural
flavor. Compared to other brands, SoyBoy tofu has higher
protein and calcium content. It does not contain preservatives,
artificial chemicals, genetically-modified organisms, trans-fat,
or cholesterol. It’s also a great source of healthy
isoflavones.
Northern Soy’s founders, Andy and Norman, have been vegetarian for many years. In 1976, they began their tiny enterprise to promote a vegetarian lifestyle and now they’ve grown into an environmentally-friendly company. Nowadays the company remains independently-owned, with Norman and Andy still managing the daily operations. SoyBoy is a proud Meatout campaign sponsor!

Whole-grain
consumption reduces risk of death from inflammatory
diseases, according to new findings from the Iowa
Women’s
Health Study. These results are timely, as related
studies have recently revealed that oxidative stress,
infection, and inflammation are predominant causes
for several major diseases.
Over a period of 17 years, the study investigated the effects of whole-grain intake in postmenopausal women 55 to 69 years of age. Study participants who incorporated the most whole-grains into their diet were less likely to die from an inflammation-related death. Most of us already know about the positive impact of whole grains in reducing coronary heart disease and diabetes, but the surprise is that the benefit is even greater on the reduction in inflammatory mortality associated with consistent whole-grain intake.
