People
who consume dairy products are more likely to develop
cancer, according to a review of several past studies.
Dr. Neal D. Bernard of The Cancer Project notes a
significant number of studies revealing a positive
dose-response correlation between dairy consumption
and prostate cancer. In other words, people who consume
dairy products the most frequently, have the highest
risk of developing the cancer. Mechanisms that may explain
this association include the negative effect of high-calcium
foods on vitamin D balance, the tendency of frequent
dairy intake to increase serum insulin-like growth factor
concentrations, and the effect of dairy products
on testosterone concentration or activity.
Prostate cancer is one of the most common malignancies worldwide, with an estimated 400,000 new cases diagnosed annually.

player announced that he was going vegan, his career
was on the line when his team and everyone else scrutinized
his new lifestyle choice. The stakes were high… he had
just signed a five-year contract, making him the
game's highest-paid tight-end. Entering the 2007
season, his 11th in the NFL, he had a shot at breaking
all-time NFL records for career receptions and touchdowns
at his position. To do that, he needed top performances
in every game.
But what made him decide to make the diet switch? Tony had never heard of a vegan diet when he boarded a flight last spring, about a month before pre-season training. After watching his seatmate turn down most of the food offered in first class, Tony inquired. The man recommended "The China Study," a 2006 book revealing that people who eat mostly plants have fewer deadly diseases than those who eat mostly animals. The evidence was drawn from diet surveys and blood samples of 6,500 men and women from across China. Tony bought the book, and after reading the first 40 pages, he was convinced animal foods led to chronic illness. Tony joined a handful of elite athletes who have put a plant-based diet to the test and won!
